TextSnipChrome + Firefox extension — text snippets

Stop retyping the same answer. Type a trigger instead.

TextSnip expands a short trigger like ;signature or /rdv into the full text, in any input, textarea or rich editor: Gmail, Outlook Web, your CRM, LinkedIn, a support ticket. Everything is stored on your device: no account, no cloud, no data leaving the browser.

How it works

Three steps, no account, nothing uploaded.

  1. Write your snippet onceOpen the popup, set a trigger (;signature, /rdv, !adresse) and the text it expands into. Up to 30 snippets in the free version, unlimited in Pro.
  2. Type the trigger anywhereIn a plain input, a textarea or a rich editor like Gmail or LinkedIn's, type the trigger followed by a space or punctuation: TextSnip replaces it with your text instantly, on the page, without leaving the field.
  3. Reuse the same library everywhereOne set of snippets, every site: webmail, CRM, support tool, social network. Pro adds unlimited snippets and JSON export/import to move your library between machines.

What the extension does

A trigger-based text expander that stays entirely on your machine. No sync service, no telemetry, no account to create before you can use it.

Instant expansion

Works in standard inputs, textareas and contentEditable rich editors (Gmail, Outlook Web, LinkedIn, most CRMs). Type the trigger, get the full text.

Built-in variables

{date} and {time} insert the current date and time in your language, {clipboard} pastes your clipboard content, {cursor} places the caret where you want to keep typing.

30 snippets free, unlimited in Pro

Start with up to 30 triggers at no cost. Pro removes the limit for teams and heavy users.

100% local

Snippets are stored with the browser's local storage API. No server, no account, no telemetry. The only network call is the licence check with Gumroad when you enter a Pro key.

JSON export / import (Pro)

Back up your snippet library or share it with a teammate as a plain JSON file — no cloud sync needed.

Chrome and Firefox, same extension

One codebase, one licence key, both browsers. Switch browsers without losing your snippets: export from one, import into the other.

Free, and Pro when you need it

The free version covers the common case: up to 30 snippets, expansion everywhere, variables. Pro removes the ceiling and adds export/import once your library grows past a personal cheat sheet.

Frequently asked questions

Does TextSnip send my snippets anywhere?

No. Snippets are stored on your device with the browser's local storage. The only network call the extension ever makes is checking your licence key with Gumroad when you activate Pro, and that call carries the key only.

Does it work in Gmail, LinkedIn or my CRM?

Yes. TextSnip expands triggers in plain inputs and textareas as well as rich contentEditable editors, which covers Gmail, Outlook Web, LinkedIn and most web-based CRMs and support tools.

What's the difference with Text Blaze?

Text Blaze requires an account and a monthly subscription for its paid tier, and only supports Chrome. TextSnip works with no account, stores everything locally, supports Chrome and Firefox, and Pro is a one-off purchase, not a subscription.

How do variables work?

Use {date} or {time} in a snippet's text and TextSnip replaces them with the current date or time when it expands. {clipboard} inserts your current clipboard content, and {cursor} marks where the cursor should land after expansion.

How does the licence key work?

Gumroad emails you a key right after payment. Open the extension's options page and paste it: it is checked once online, then stored locally, and the extension keeps working offline. Up to 5 machines, no expiry, no subscription.

Can I move my snippets from Chrome to Firefox?

With Pro, export your library to a JSON file from one browser and import it into the other. The free version does not include export/import.
